For our Environmental Education class last week, Mrs. Szalay took us for a walk in the woods. Our goal was to use our eyes and our ears to see what we could discover about our woods.
Right away we discovered something fascinating - swarms of flying insects covering a log.
We found the large amounts of insects so interesting,
although we were worried they might get on us...
We came upon an unusual stump and thought something was living inside...
We were not sure if it was a frog or a toad.
It turned out to be a toad!
Mrs. Szalay said we could look at things closely in the woods,
but we could not take them out of the woods.
Great discussion was generated around natural objects found on the path.
We had time to take our time and investigate.
We will be back to explore our woods again!
