Line Poetry

Our writing professor, Leif, recommended that the kindergartens girls begin to do some poetry.  Following his lead, we have begun with line poetry.  Start with a topic and then list your ideas!  Sometimes the lines have only one word, sometimes more.  We have been writing line poems phonetically, so that rush of getting ideas down quickly can empower the girls to write. 

The first line poems we did were about our Moms and were wonderful!  The poems highlighted what makes each mom special in such an endearing, fun loving list.  

To connect with the holidays, we next discussed how we might tackle a wish list poem.  We spent time discussing how you can wish for anything and that even if your wish can not come true, you can still wish for it!  The girls were very excited about listing wishes and their poems are fantastic!  Since some of our lists are lengthy, I pulled out one wish from everyone's list to share.
