Mea Jemison is the first African-American woman to go into space. Mae trained for 5 years to become an astronaut. She spent 8 days in space aboard the spaceship the Endeavor.
Here is the class letter we wrote to Mae Jemison:
Dear Mae Jemison,
What does space look like? Is it fun being up in space? Where did you keep the food in the rocket? Were you scared? Did you miss your Mom? Could you see the stars? Did you float around inside the spaceship? Did you have enough room to move around? What was your favorite part of being an astronaut? What does it feel like to float in air? Did you get homesick when you saw the earth from space? We are proud of you for working very hard. We are glad that you didn't listen to your teacher. You were brave! We are now thinking that we might want to go into space...
Love, Ms. Culbert's Kindergarten Class
