Project Based Learning

What is project based learning?
 Students are presented with a challenging question and then must:
*problem solve
*make their own decisions
*use their investigative skills
*design a project that reflects their solution to the question

Teacher’s role?
The teacher is their for support, but does not give direction.

Why is PBL so important?
Project based learning emphasizes creative thinking.  While each student has designed their own project, they see how their pees have responded to the question and realize that their are many ways to solve a problem!



KC connected project based learning with our brave, smart girl unit! 

1. We read Christina Katerina & The Box and discovered how this fictional brave, smart girl was able to re-invent a large cardboard box into multiple uses.

2. The KC girls were given a small, white box and asked, “What can they turn your box into?”

3. I provided a large range of craft supplies and the hot glue gun and then I worked individually with each kindergartner to help her transform her box.

4. Come see how each KC girl took on the challenge of how to change a box into something else - 15 different wonderful ways to solve the problem!
