Our November theme is: Brave, Smart Girls! We are going to immerse ourselves in literature revolving around brave, smart women. We will look at both historical figures who stood up for what they believed in and made changes which we benefit from today and fictional characters. It will be fun to learn from their challenges and adventures.
Focusing on brave, smart women provides us with the perfect opportunity to look at ourselves and acknowledge how special we are. We are going to make Brave, Smart books all about how we are brave and smart. These autobiographical books will be filled with facts and illustrations to express the many ways in which each KC girls is brave and smart. We will be working on these books all month long.
Researching brave, smart women will introduce us to many famous women from around the globe. While recognizing what makes girls special, we will also be looking into what makes people from all cultures special. Next week we will be looking at a globe and a map of the world to identify the seven continents. The latest poem we have learned is entitled “Friends” and points out how important it is that everyone be themselves. Your KCer can recite this lovely poem for you!
