Making Paper

We hope that you like the Valentine heart pins that we are sending home - we made the paper!

         Here is how we did it:

        Working in small groups, we had to decide as a team what color we wanted our paper to turn out to be.  The first choice was blue, so everyone tour bits of blue paper and put them into the blender.

 Then we turned the blender on and watched our paper bits turn into paper pulp.

 We poured our paper pulp into our mold and deckle.  

Once we got rid of the excess water, we let our wet paper dry.

 Then this group decided it was time to make pink paper!

 It was fun to watch the blender work.

 The next group also started by making blue paper.

 We discussed why some of the paper started sinking to the bottom of the blender, 

while other pieces stayed on the top.  Very observant!

 There was enough time to make two more sheets of paper, so pink paper and then...

 orange paper!

Teamwork got the job done!
