Celebrating Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day (which SCH girls know is really every day) we partnered up with our second grade Springside Sisters and planted seedlings in our woods.

First we were given instructions on how to dig and plant the baby tree correctly.
Mrs. Szalay gave the girls shovels to use.
The grown-ups were given large shovels!
Thank you to Zoe's Mom & Grandmom, Morgan's Mom and Anabella's Mom for volunteering.
Everyone did a great job working together to dig the holes, plant the baby tree and leave clear markers around the tree for protection.

Morgan's Mom helped make the hole deep enough!

Anabella's Mom found a worm when she was digging!
This seedling is from last year's Earth Day planting, so hopefully we will find our baby trees growing stronger next year when we come back to plant again!
We are done for today, but we will be back.

Happy Earth Day Mother Earth.
