Math Update
*Counting by 5's
We have been working on counting by 5's to 100! Everyone painted their hands and we made a hand print mural from 5 to 195!
*Coins
We have been reviewing the coins and their value. Everyone designed a stamp highlighting their winter animal and then had to decide the stamp's monetary value! To help us identify each coin, we made What Coin Am I? guessing books. After you read the clues, can you guess the coin before you turn the page for the answer? And we have made magic money math posters. The girls chose what coins went into the magic money box and then they can show you how a new coin (s) comes out worth the same amount! For example, if five pennies go into the magic money box, what will come out? A nickel!
*Time
We have made time lines - about ourselves! We looked at a clock and realized that it could not help us think about the past or the future, but a time line could document what we know about the past and the present and let us make predictions about the future! So, our baby and kindergarten recordings are true and our predictions about being a teenager and a grown-up are what we think may happen...
*Word Problems
The girls will be writing and illustrating their own word stories! The girls will have to create an addition problem and apply it to a storyline about their winter animal. Once the girls have written their addition equation, they will then have to show us the solution through their illustration. We are looking forward to showing off these fun word problems soon!
