Writing
* In honor of Black History month, we have been reading many African tales. After we read Abiyoyo, the girls were asked to write an opinion response: picking out a part of the story they liked or did not like. The girl’s phonetic writing skills are noticeably stronger, as they are becoming more confident in identifying the sounds they hear and as they are now using the word wall to retrieve words they need.

* We are using our research to write another class book! This book Guess Who book will feature each of our winter animals. The girls have given three clues about their animal, and three picture clues - then you have to guess! Some of the clues are rather tricky…

Research
* We are making habitats for our clay animals. First the girls decided on how to illustrate the background, then they added nests, dens, burrows, caves, sticks, leaves and twigs to fully explain how their animal lives in the wild.

* We combined pajama day with thinking about nocturnal animals. If it was time for bed, what would it look like for your animal? Would the sun be coming up or setting? Once we had done our research, then we were able to make a class graph and record how many nocturnal animals we have within KC.
